May is National Foster Care Awareness Month, so it was the perfect time to share this incredible session! Foster Care Awareness month gives those who advocate for children in foster care a platform to speak the hard truth about foster care. Sadly, a child goes into the foster care system every two minutes and there are currently 442,000 children in care. Children in care need foster parents to give them a safe and stable place to sleep and grow. My cousin Rachel and her husband are foster parents who have welcomed over 20 children in need of a safe place to call home. It was such an honor to photograph the growth of their family, from their wedding in June of 2017 to today! This family photo session celebrated them officially adopting 3 sweet boys after fostering them for the past two years.

Rachel and Logan go above and beyond to make sure their foster kids come into a home filled with love, laughter, warm beds, and delicious food, no matter how long they are there. They always have fun activities and adventures for kids to have a chance at a little bit of normalcy. I loved being able to capture the sweet moments as this family celebrated and giggled their way through the evening. There was so much love and emotion between them! Speaking about the boy’s adoption day, Rachel wrote, “When trying to think about our best day, a quote from Winnie the Pooh comes to mind that says ‘Every day with you is my favorite day, so today is my new favorite day.’ We are so thankful for every day we get to spend with our sweet kiddos and the special little memories that happen throughout each day, but if I had to pick one, it would be our forever day.” To learn more about Rachel and Logan’s journey as foster parents, take a look at their blog.
