Rustic Sunset Maternity Photos at Boulder Ridge Park in Rocklin, CA
I photographed Valerie and Nick’s wedding in 2021, so I was beyond excited when they reached out to announce they were expecting a baby! As a girl mom myself, the excitement only grew when I learned they were having a girl. Valerie and I go way back to elementary school, making this session incredibly special for me. Being part of her biggest life moments has been a true honor and witnessing her journey from bride to mother is heartwarming.
The session was filled with so many heartfelt moments as they eagerly awaited the arrival of their little girl. The warm hues of the setting sun added a golden glow to the images, creating a dreamy and rustic feel to the photos. For this session Valerie wore a pink floral dress that showed off her adorable bump and Nick wore a gray shirt and khaki pants to compliment Valerie’s dress. I captured so many moments and different poses throughout this session. I made sure to capture Valerie by herself admiring her bump but also made sure to capture the love between Valerie and Nick. They shared some romantic moments but also moments that really showed their personalities.
Tips for a Successful Maternity Session
- Wardrobe Choices: Wear something that makes you feel good. Avoid busy patterns and stick to solid colors or simple designs to keep the focus on you and your bump.
- Take Breaks: Modeling, especially at eight months pregnant, can be hard work. Be vocal about needing breaks and bring hydration and snacks to keep your energy up.
- Timing: Schedule your maternity session between 28 to 36 weeks pregnant. Your belly is prominently round during this period, and you’re still relatively comfortable. However, always listen to your body.
- Professional Prep: Consider getting your hair and makeup done professionally. This can boost your confidence and ensure you look your best on camera. If you prefer doing it yourself, take extra time to prepare so you feel comfortable and radiant.
