This vibrant summer wedding in Livermore, California was such a beautiful two-part wedding day. The couple’s venue of choice was The Purple Orchid which is a stunning spa and resort in wine country! Joanne and Ryan started their day with a beautiful morning Chinese Tea Ceremony followed by a delicious Chinese food lunch. If you’re unfamiliar with a Chinese Tea Ceremony, it’s a ceremony where the newlyweds show respect to their family and elders by serving them tea, and the family shows the newlyweds their acceptance of their marriage. This bride wore a Qun Kwa, which is typical of brides during a Chinese Tea Ceremony, and she looked absolutely stunning! A Summer Wedding at The Purple Orchid in Livermore, California

I really enjoy photographing traditional elements from other cultures on wedding days. It’s amazing to have the opportunity to learn about other cultures and how weddings are celebrated. Being half-Chinese myself, I felt a deep connection to their ceremony. This beautiful couple’s American wedding took place later that afternoon and we had the most beautiful weather! I loved how their sunset portraits turned out! Nothing beats beautiful golden hour bride and groom portraits.
